Daggerheart

Daggerheart is a narrative focused evolution of D&D that uses a "duality dice" mechanic to introduce narrative tension even when the players succeed tasks. Character creation is streamlined and easy to pick up, though with enough complexity to make unique and evocative player characters. Combat is freeform and allows leeway to focus on the narrative stakes of the conflict.

Checks use two d12s, one representing hope, the other fear. Depending which rolls higher the player will gain Hope or the Gamemaster will gain Fear, both being meta resources for them to activate special abilities and influence the game.
